Mordam rt - Parke Goodman
When Deloris Goodman gave birth to her son one fine Valentine's Day in Ottumwa, Iowa, she decided to call him Parke, because "it sounded like a doctor's name". But when Parke was just 9 years old, she truly sealed his fate: she gave him a paint set for Christmas.
Parke grew up in Boulder, Colorado, but when he moved to Bozeman in 1974 to study architecture at MSU, he fell in love with the mountains of Montana and knew he would never leave.
Parke worked as a homebuilder, landscaper, and artist for Big Sky Carvers, but all the while he was painting Montana landscapes. In 1994, he met his wife Bonnie, who was selling her glass jewelry at Art Festivals across the state. She added Parke's work to her displays and soon he was 'discovered' by galleries and honored to be Artist-in-Residence at Glacier National Park.
In 1997, Bozeman outgrew the Goodmans; they moved over the hill to open their studio/ gallery "Mordam Art" in historic downtown Livingston, where they live with injured pigeons, rescued cats, and a parrot that meows.
Now a full-time artist, Parke works exclusively with oils and builds his own frames. He is forever inspired by the scenery of Paradise Valley, Yellowstone, and the Tetons. When he's not in the studio, Parke enjoys camping and painting outdoors, vegan baking, and tending to the succulents in his greenhouse, and his spectacular conifer and flower gardens.
